Duldzin Dragpa Centre
Duldzin Dragpa Centre in Epping is the principal Kadampa Buddhist Centre in East Herts and Essex. Its purpose is to give people the opportunity to practice meditation and Kadampa Buddhism. The Centre is a member of the International Kadampa Buddhist Union, an international association of Mahayana Buddhist study and meditation centres that follow the Kadampa Buddhist tradition founded by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
The Centre offers weekly meditation classes, Foundation Programme (FP), chanted meditation sessions (pujas), Sunday Prayers & Prayers for World Peace and Precepts days which are suitable for everyone.
Weekly meditation classes are held at Billericay, Bishop’s Stortford, Braintree, Chelmsford, Hoddesdon, Epping (coffee morning, lunchtime and evening), Leigh-on-Sea, Rayleigh, Romford, South Woodford and Westcliff-on-Sea. Classes include guided meditations so that you can learn how to meditate correctly, and advice on how to apply meditation in daily life to achieve inner peace and happiness.
The Resident Teacher of Duldzin Dragpa Centre is Kadam Ai Peng McBretney.
She has studied and practised Kadampa Buddhism for many years under the guidance of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
She teaches at Leigh-on-Sea, Billericay, Hoddesdon and Epping (Tuesday mornings and evenings).
Through her experience of putting Buddha’s advice into practice, she presents the teachings in a clear and practical way
that inspires us to develop inner peace, happiness and wisdom.
The chanted prayers at Duldzin Dragpa Centre, known as ‘pujas’, follow a range of Buddhist prayer booklets (sadhanas) prepared by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and are available from the Centre’s shop or Tharpa Publications. Engaging in pujas (especiallly Tsog pujas) is a special method of purifying negativity, accumulating merit and receiving blessings. It helps to develop and maintain a positive mind, and is a powerful preparation for meditation. Tsog pujas (highlighted in blue below) involve making offerings of food and drink to the Buddhas together with prayers and meditation. Everyone is welcome to attend all the pujas and there is no fee.
Sunday Prayers & Prayers for World Peace
These chanted sessions (pujas) at the Centre are very beautiful prayers sung in English with great meaning and dedicated to the happiness and welfare of all living beings. The sessions are generally held on Sundays afternoons as indicated in schedule below. Everyone is welcome. Pujas with tsog are highlighted.
