The Happiness of a Good Heart
True happiness arises from a good heart — one that is open, kind, and free from prejudice. In this new series of classes, we’ll explore Buddha’s teachings on love and compassion, learning how to develop a mind that embraces all living beings with warmth and understanding.
Through meditations on equanimity, affectionate love, and compassion, we’ll discover how to open our hearts and dissolve the barriers that separate us from others. We’ll also look deeply into how to view our own and others’ faults in the mirror of Dharma — understanding that, in truth, living beings have no faults, only temporary states of confusion.
Each class offers practical guidance, reflection, and guided meditation — helping us cultivate the peaceful happiness that naturally arises from a good heart.
You will learn how to:
- Develop equanimity and open your heart to others with genuine affection
- See beyond faults and strengthen empathy and compassion
- Experience the deep, joyful peace that comes from cherishing others
- Tue 24 Feb - Balancing the heart in times of joy and challenge
- Tue 3 Mar - Learning to cultivate warmth and kindness
- Tue 10 Mar - Understanding ourselves without harsh judgment
- Tue 17 Mar - Seeing the goodness in others
- Tue 24 Mar - Compassion in action
Happiness from the Inside Out: Cultivating Inner Habits for a Joyful Life
True happiness doesn’t depend on external conditions — it comes from inner habits that bring peace, confidence, and kindness to every moment of our lives.
In this inspiring six-week course, we’ll explore some powerful habits taught by Buddha that lead to lasting happiness: giving, moral discipline, patience, effort, concentration, and wisdom.
Each week, we’ll learn practical ways to nurture these qualities through meditation and daily life — developing a strong, peaceful, and joyful mind that benefits both ourselves and others.
You will learn how to:
- Develop the inner habits that create genuine happiness
- Use meditation to strengthen generosity, patience, and wisdom
- Bring calm, positivity, and purpose to your daily life
- Tue 14 Apr - Learning the joy of giving without expectation
- Tue 21 Apr - Cultivating integrity and positive action
- Tue 28 Apr - Developing tolerance and calm in the face of difficulty
- Tue 5 May - Applying consistent effort to meditation and daily life
- Tue 12 May - Strengthening attention and stability in meditation
- Tue 19 May - Insight into Reality
Freedom Through Wisdom: Seven Steps to a Peaceful & Joyful Mind
A joyful mind and inner freedom arise not just from letting go of pain or cultivating a good heart, but from understanding the nature of the mind itself. In this seven-week course, we’ll explore how insight into thoughts, emotions, and perceptions can release suffering and cultivate lasting clarity, peace, and joy.
You’ll experience greater calm and clarity in meditation and also cultivate a mind that is more resilient, wise, and free — capable of responding to life’s challenges with peace, compassion, and joy.
Each week builds on practical meditations and timeless teachings to help you develop awareness, insight, and freedom in your daily life.
You will discover how to:
- Observe the mind without attachment and respond with clarity
- Understand impermanence and transform challenges into growth
- Apply wisdom and meditation to daily life for lasting peace and joy
- Tue 9 June - Observing the Mind Without Attachment
- Tue 16 June - Understanding Impermanence
- Tue 23 June - Deepening Meditation Practice
- Tue 30 June - Applying Wisdom to Daily Life
- Thu 7 July - Transforming Suffering into Learning
